A Brief Description of Osot Associates

Osot Associates a firm of consulting engineers was formally inaugurated 54 years ago (in April 1968) precisely. It was founded by three founding partners Engr A . O . Olumide, Engr. Dr.K .A .Segun and late Engr.A .Tokun.

In the past 49 years of existence, the firm which was started in a small office in Ibadan with only a handful of staff has not only grown in staff strength but has expanded in its management structure to incorporate Directors who are seasoned engineers and managers.

By 1995, the professional strength included Twelve (12) expatriate engineers while by 2008, it has a staff strength of 35 engineers and consultants and over 100 technical and support staff.

Osot Associates being one of the foremost Nigerian indigenous consulting engineering firms has had considerable and varied experience in highways/transportation, water resources, and structural and environmental engineering.

Some of the challenging schemes are not limited to water supply only including but not limited to:

Water Resources Engineering Services

We will highlight the water services here as it is considered more relevant. We have been engaged in the design and supervision of water projects as far back as 1974.

In fact, we are the first and foremost indigenous water resources consultants in this country. Our experiences cover water supply, flood control, drainage, stormwater management, and sewage.

In all these fields we have offered services ranging from advisory to conceptual design, feasibility studies, and final engineering design to construction supervision to every tier of government and corporate bodies that required our aid.

In each of these fields, we have handled projects of varying scales and scopes. The attached summary sheet expressly illustrates this variation.

In water supply projects alone we have handled quite a few large and prestigious projects some of which we won in fair competitions with reputable foreign consulting firms from Europe, Britain, and the U.S.A. A few of these are highlighted thus:

The Long Term Water Supply Option for Ibadan and the Study of Institutional Framework, Tariff Structure and Manpower Requirement (1990) funded by the African Development Bank. The cost of the project was valued at £600milion.

  • Design of Majidun Soil and Erosion Control Works in Lagos State
  • Design of Isolo Soil and Erosion Control Works in Lagos State
  • Design of Ejigbo Irrigation Scheme in Osun State
  • Design and Supervision of Sepeteri Irrigation Project in Oyo State
  • Design of Sepeteri Dam Project
  • Ilesa and Ejigbo scheme was financed by the Exim Bank of America. (Cost $300million)
  • The National Rural Water Supply Scheme (PTF 1998, Anambra State)
  • Design of Ikorodu  mini-water scheme rehabilitation facilities (2006)
  • Supervision of seven mini-water schemes for the Lagos Water Corporation. (2008)
  • Review of the Osun Water Project in which we proposed an off-the-river pumped storage as the unique solution to abstracting water from the Osun river to satisfy the demand of  Epe, Lekki New City, and Victoria Island.

It must be clear from the above that we have competently handled both local and foreign-financed schemes. We have also worked with foreign consultants in Joint Ventures on a few projects. In these 48 years, we have built a reservoir of knowledge on coordinating multi-disciplinary teams of consultants to obtain effective results.
